It Is Done!

Hail, Fellow Creatures!

I hope all is good in your woods on this July day. It’s been a bit since I’ve posted an update here, but that’s because Casco and I have been knee-deep in the Scarred World Saga, exploring Moonsland and beyond.

Where has it led us?

To the end of book 3!

As of last week, I’ve officially written The End in Sins of the Scarred, putting the finishing touches on draft 1 with the total word count ending up at just under 110k, a volume I’m certain will expand as I go back and rewrite scenes.

But dang, it feels good to get to that milestone.

After months of being in the depths of Requiem and Dash’s journey, I’m nearing the finish line, and while I still have a whole other book to go to get there, I can see the light of it on the horizon.

Good news is that book 4 is already in progress with 2.5k words on the manuscript! While there’s still much more to go, I’m very happy to be getting it off the ground and finalizing the conclusion of the Scarred World Saga… for now.

I say for now because you never know what others stories I’ll want to explore in this universe. By the time we meet Requiem he’s already gained a long reputation and has earned enough scars to coat most of his body.

There are plenty of stories to tell within that history…

But first, let me concentrate on getting the main story finalized and out into your claws!

Speaking of previous missions, I’m excited to share that in between writing the Scarred World saga, I’ve begone writing a new story set in Chilongua, my dark, rainforest-themed fantasy world.

Like Requiem, Ati “Wish” Bibango, famed jungle-diver in all of Fangmora, has a long history by the time we meet him in The Crumbling Kingdom, and I’ve long been itching to explore that history.

Hence the new short story that’s in the works!

While it’s still early in development, I promise it’ll be free by the time its wrapped up and ready to be delivered.

I’m still in the process of fleshing out the details, so will share more on it when I have them.

Finally, Requiem’s Rise, my short story prequel to the Scarred World Saga is almost finalized. I’m waiting on a few more rounds of feedback from beta readers as I write this, but I’m hopeful I’ll be able to release this free short story to you all soon!

Very soon.

While I don’t feel confident yet on an official date, I’m nearing on one and will share as soon as I know.

Thanks for your patience, Fellow Creatures!

Besides pounding away at the keyboard like a woodpecker on a tree, I’ve been staying busy with Art Quest.

I’m officially wading into the waters of trying to complete Ahmed Aldoori’s one hundred head challenge, and while I’m not nearly moving at the pace he recommends of 10 heads in 10 days, I’ve been making steady progress.

See below as an example:

Each head is a different challenge, and why some come out better than others, each one is helping me learn more about head construction.

While writing and hanging with the fam is dominating most of my time, I am trying to fit in as much drawing as I can in the cracks… as well as playing The Witcher 3 and trying satiate Casco’s need for copious walks!

All good stuff here in Elsewhere.

But that’s all I got for now! For more frequent updates, I hope you’ll join the newsletter.

Until next time, though,

Stay suspicious! Things lurk in the darkness of Elsewhere.

-Jeff
