When the Story Comes Back

Well, Fellow Creatures, as I write this, I am nearing the end of the beta phase for the Scarred World prequel and Books 1–3.   As mentioned in previous posts and newsletters, thirteen brave souls volunteered to become the First of the Scarred, those faithful few willing to wade into the fray of typos and potential continuity errors in hopes of helping me find a better story on the other side.   Now, that story is beginning to come back.   With it has arrived a collection of extremely useful feedback about what worked, what didn’t, what was confusing, and what became emotionally difficult.   The next step is figuring out what all of it means.   What I’ve hopefully learned over the...

Expanding the Horizon of Elsewhere

A Bounty of Goodness

Happy May, Fellow Creatures! I can hardly believe it, but spring has officially arrived. The air here in New England has finally warmed, and the dandelions are popping up across the lawn like they’ve got somewhere important to be. Unfortunately, that place seems to be Casco’s stomach. Does anyone else have a dog that loves gobbling down dandelions? Regardless, progress continues on the Scarred World Saga, books 1–3. As of writing this, I’m about 40% of the way through editing Book 3, which is the final box to check on the writing front before I begin preparing for launch. Eek. We’re Back!

We’re back, Fellow Creatures!   Or maybe I should say I’m back. I don’t think Casco ever really went anywhere. Book 3 has Begun and It Has a Name…

The adventure has begun.    If you read my blog from last time then you know I was nearing my second pass of edits on book 2 of the Scarred World Saga, Stone of the Scarred.   Well, I’m happy to say that as of writing this I’m officially off and running on book 3. About 10k words in to be exact.   And guess what? Book 3 officially has a name.   Sin of the Scarred.   In keeping with the whole S of the Scarred them I’ve got going on here, I landed on this being the a good place to be, as it should focus much more on Requiem, his past, and the Scarred’s history.   I so desperately want to share...

Onto The Next One

I’ve started.   I’ve heard from some of you about the lack of me finishing what I started… aka getting idea happy and bolting over to the next shiny thing.    Guilty.   I’ve found it challenging to stay in the same world for an extended time when there’s so much else I want to explore, especially when that hit of joy is at its highest during the creation period.  It’s hard to stay away from that seductive juice when you know it’s right around the corner.   But that’s not fair to the readers.   I think we all know someone who has been burned by authors who don’t follow through on specific series or are derailed by some other side project....
