Bring on 2026!

Happy New Year, Fellow Creature!

Can’t believe that we’re already into 2026. 2025 went by both fast and slow at the same time, where delightful periods where it felt like it was crawling, and then other times where it went by in a blink.

As I’ve mentioned in my newsletter, 2025 was the year of building. While I didn’t get to drop anything new, I did a lot of work behind the scenes:

  • Re-editing book 1 of the Scarred World Saga: Sword of the Scarred
  • Finishing draft 1 of book 2: Stone of the Scarred
  • Finishing draft 1 of book 3: Sins of the Scarred
  • Starting draft 1 of book 4: Scorn of the Scarred
  • Re-starting my newsletter and getting serious about it
  • Rehashing my website
  • Finishing a new Scarred World short story: Requiem’s Rise
  • Finishing a new Chilonuga short story: The Thicket of Shadow and Flame
  • Other behind the scenes stuff that you may not have noticed, but will hopefully reap the benefits of in the long run.

So yes, while 2025 didn’t produce a whole lot of content into your claws, it helped me prepare a lot. So much so that I’m hopeful that 2026 will be the year of sharing.

As of writing this, I’m about 50% done with editing Book 2 and at 101k words in Book 4.

I want to feel comfortable with books 1-3 before dropping them into your hands. However, there is still more work to be done. And while I don’t have a definitive date, I am hopeful that by Q2 I’ll be able to start getting these books out there, finally!

What thereafter?

I’ve been working on another side-project as a fun, palette cleanser, and a way to get my creative juices going.

I promise it’s not distracting me from writing the Scarred World Saga. I’ve been prone to flights of fancy in the past that had me looking elsewhere (pun intended), but I like to think those days are gon,e and I can do both work on my main project and keep a fun side project going at the same time responsibly.

If I do go off the rails, and you get the sense that I’m slacking, you have the right to throw tomatoes my way.

I won’t say too much about the project, other than it’s in a new world and is the start of a new series, and that you probably won’t see anything about it until after Chilongua has had its say.

Yes, I’m also working on some updates to my Chilongua series.

Just some minor polishes and a new short story, eventually. But that will come after the Scarred World series is done, good and proper.

So many worlds, so little time!

But I promise to try and make my rollout plan as clear as possible as I start to get clearer on dates and releases.

In the meantime, you all rock for hanging around and following along on the journey. Elsewhere gets dark and maddening within its depths, but knowing you’re there for it, every step of the way, makes it much less terrifying to Casco and me.

What’s up for your 2026? As always, I’d always love to hear from yo,u and learning about people’s goals and resolutions are always exhilarating to me.

Feel free to shoot me an email (which you can find on the About Me page).

Alright, gotta get back to Requiem and the horror unfolding across Moonsland.

Until next time,

Stay swift!

-Jeff
