The Long Road to the Scarred World
Like Pokémon, the journey continues, Fellow Creature!
Here we are at the start of April, and I’m still hammering away at the Scarred World Saga.
If you read my last blog, you know I just finished Draft 1 of Book 4—Scorn of the Scarred, the final installment in the series.
Now, I’m ankle-deep in editing Book 3—Sins of the Scarred—the one I want fully locked in before I begin releasing these books into the wild.
It’s a long process, no doubt. But one I believe is worth it. I want to make sure this story goes out the right way. Once that’s done, I’m hoping things start to pick up steam.
Because that’s always been the dream.
To do this full-time. To fully immerse myself in these strange worlds that live in my head—and share them.
I believe I can get there. But I also know it’s a slow build.
And the next piece of that bridge is getting the Scarred World Saga out into the world.
After that… I’ll finally be able to show you what’s next.
As I’ve mentioned in past posts and newsletters, I do have another project waiting in the wings—one I recently crossed 47k words on. It’s set in an entirely new world, separate from the Scarred World, and it’s been a lot of fun working on it off to the side.
I’ll share more when the time is right.
But for now, most of my focus remains on Moonsland.
At this point, I’m aiming for a mid-summer release—possibly July—but I’ll lock that in once I push further through Book 3 and map out the next steps.
In the meantime, I’ve been trying to carve out a bit of time to recharge creatively.
It’s not always easy. Between the day job, writing, Art Quest, walking Casco, and spending time with my family… those pockets of downtime are rare.
But I can proudly say that after eight years (yes, really), two restarts, and countless detours…
I finally finished The Witcher 3.
What a game.
I first started playing it when my youngest son was a newborn, asleep on my chest during those late, quiet hours when I needed something to keep me awake. But like most things, life pulled me away, and the game became something I returned to in fragments over the years.
And every time I did, I got lost in the side quests.
But recently, after my brother once again declared it the best game he’s ever played, I decided it was time to see it through.
And after many hours—and many, many side quests—I finally watched the credits roll.
CD Projekt Red absolutely delivered.
Some of the most memorable characters and storytelling I’ve experienced in any game. Add in the combat and world-building, and it easily earns a place in my top five of all time. (I’m still trying to remember the other three besides Skyrim.)
It also has me eagerly waiting for The Witcher 4.
In the meantime, I’ve started Cyberpunk 2077—CD Projekt Red’s comeback story—and even in the early hours, I can already feel that same attention to storytelling.
Excited to dive deeper into that one.
Anyway—slight tangent there, Fellow Creatures. But finishing a game these days feels rare enough that it was worth sharing.
Other than that, Casco continues to do what Casco does best—sleeping, nudging for walks, and demanding pets at the exact moment I’m trying to type.
Here’s a shot of him mid-nudge.

Which probably means it’s time for me to lace up and take him out.
As always, thank you for following along on the journey. More soon—especially as we get closer to release.
Until then,
Stay savvy!
