Book 4 Has A Name

Howdy, howdy, Fellow Creatures!

As always, hope all is good in your woods, and the critters that lurk in your part of Elsewhere are behaving themselves (or not, if you prefer your woodland creatures to be rambunctious.)

Just stopping in for a quick update on progress!

First of all, as I mentioned in my last post, Book 3 of the Scarred World Saga is done, and as of writing this, I am about 20k into the 4th and final installment.

Progress is going well. I’ve been able to maintain a decent clip, and despite the occasional hiccup in discipline or hitting of a dreaded block in the story, it goes on and on.

While I don’t have an official release date for the books yet, I am coming in to let you know that Book 4 has an official name.

Scorn of the Scarred.

This speaks to the final, deadly mission that Requiem and Dash undertake in the last installment, as well as the vicious forces they face.

I also like the alliterative continuity that persists between all the books, which, after just announcing book 4, here will be the entire list:

Book 1: Sword of the Scarred

Book 2: Stone of the Scarred

Book 3: Sins of the Scarred

Book 4: Scorn of the Scarred

Then there’s that little prequel story I’ve been blabbering on about for months called Requiem’s Rise, a longer short story that investigates what happens Requiem with his first mission as Scarred.

I am happy to report that all beta feedback has been received and incorporated, and the only thing that is preventing me from releasing this bad fella into the ether is wanting to ensure series congruency across the books (aka meaning I want to reread at least book 1 to make sure it lands as expected.)

All that is to say, I am hopeful that I can release this soon. Very soon. But like the rest of the books, I don’t have a date yet.

Just know when the time comes, Requiem’s Rise will be free and hopefully a great introduction to the rest of Requiem’s world.

Other than that, I’ve been working on the Chilongua short that follows up on one of the first missions that Wish and Moso face together as a partnership.  A dangerous one that takes them into a particular part of the jungle where the beasts that lurk there are unforgiving, and the trees and plants, even more so.

I’m about 6k words into that too, and will continue to provide updates along the way!

Meanwhile, Summer has been in full effect here in Elsewhere. Casco and I are doing our best to keep up with my boys and all their plans, and it’s already hard to believe that school will be starting next week…

Like the winged dragon that it is, time certainly flies. Sometimes, I wish I had the strength to slay it from pulling us so quickly into the future…

Maybe someday. But for now, my wife and I will hitch a saddle to it and give it a ride to see where it takes our party of wild adventurers.

Or something like that.

That’s all I have for now, Fellow Creatures. Time to return to Elsewhere and continue the travels.

Please don’t be strangers. Casco and I could use a good tap on the shoulder to keep us from wandering too far.

Stay sizzling,

-Jeff
