The Most Magical Place on Earth

I wish I was talking about some newfound discovery where there are beings who can cast spells and levitate objects with a blink of an eye.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, that place has yet to be discovered.

For now, we’ll have to settle for Disney World!

Yeah, I know, some of you may be rolling your eyes at this as I feel like those parks get a pretty bad wrap for the price gouging, unreasonably long-waits, and the special treatment they get, which are rightful gripes about Mickey land, but it’s hard to argue against their ability to inspire and make you feel a little closer to magic.

We were fortunate enough to take our little creatures down there a couple weeks back (after some crafty credit card point use and savings), and not only did it live up to the hype of fun (though, as I age, I have a harder time calling getting whipped about at 60mph in a tornado-esque rollercoaster a good time), but found myself getting caught up in their tremendous attention to detail and world-building.

Take a walk into Animal Kingdom and visit the Avatar world of Pandora and just look up at those floating mountains. Or walk into Hollywood Studios and enter Galaxy’s Edge and see the faux plant life and replica droids. Even go to Epcot (often gets bad wrap for the lamest of the parks) and check out the crafty animatronics in the Spaceship Earth ride that’ll transport you back in time and walk you through the history of communication…

As soon as you step foot in that place you get lost in the sauce, taken away from the outside world for a while, and allowed to dream in this pool of over-stimulation. While you can see the same things in movies and artwork, something about being able to be able to touch and absorb these settings really transports you to these other worlds.

I found the parks, as exhausting as they were, to be a boon to the imagination, and left feeling refreshed and full of new ideas.

Would I take Disney over a long walk up a mountain and deep-forest trail to let my mind wander? No, but it’s a different type of stimulation that was a nice change of pace and left me itching and excited to get to the keyboard to jot out some new ideas.

So if you ever find yourself down in Orlando, make sure you take a pen and paper with you. Your imagination will be happy it has a place to put itself!

And oh, word to the wise. Don’t go on Guardians of the Galaxy if you want to hold onto your lunch. I barely held onto mine. But I’m also a big weenie, so you may be fine.

Lastly, quick update on Shadow of the Dragod! November 7th release is coming up soon. ARC copies are still available. If you’re interested, shoot me an email! hallwaytoelsehwere@gmail.com.

That’s all for now!

Stay stompin’, Fellow Creatures!
