Writing Update

Howdy howdy, Fellow Creatures!

Hope all is good in the woods.  I wanted to stop by here and give you all some updates on where things stand throughout my writing journey.

All in all, I’ve been busy, juggling a few different projects at once. Let’s just say, that they’re all moving forward in one way or another and I am excited to get them out there.

I hope you’re excited to read them!

But enough with the preamble… Let me tell you where I’m at.

Shadow of the Dragod

I’ve just finished reviewing the edits suggested by my wonderful editor, Tamara Blain. As always, she provided some wonderful thoughts on how to tighten up my sentences and make them nice and clean (as clean as can be that is, no one can ever clean up all the  mess I make.)

This a big one. I’ve been working on this bad larry for over 4 years. It’s swelled to 264k words, which is a heck of a lot, but needed to get this large so I could properly tell the story I wanted to tell.

Now it’s onto one final pass, creating some bonus material (You’ll get a look at the upcoming sequel!), gathering some interior illustrations from the magical Noah Frase, and then it’s publishing time.

Yikes! The first thing I’ve published in over 2 years.

Right now, I’m thinking late October (which is a month later than the September date I’ve been throwing around), but that’s mostly so I can figure out how to actually market this thing properly.

Something I’ve never really given the ol’ college try at before.

So stay tuned, I have a feeling I’ll be able to release the date very soon on this blog.

Under a God-Made Mountain

Remember the new project I mentioned a couple of weeks back? Well, I just got done taking another pass at it, and as it stands now it’s complete at around 75k words.

I still need to get it over to Tamara and  I still need to think about it a little more as it feels like a different shape than other stories I’ve written.

Smaller. Narrower. Not the girthy, stretchy novels that I’ve written in the past.  I don’t think it’s a bad thing, it’s only giving me pause to reflect and see if I feel like there’s something else I should be adding to it, or if it’s fine the way it is.

Whenever that feeling passes, I’ll know it’s time to move on to the next step.

Stone of the Scarred

I’m around 20k into writing Stone of the Scarred now, but it has taken a pause so I can focus on responding to the edits for Shadow of the Dragod.

Lots of things in motion right now. At times, it feels overwhelming. But I’ll take this feeling any day over the progress I was making a couple of months back, which was nothing.

I’ll leave it at that.

As I said, I’ll have a release date coming soon for Shadow of the Dragod.

Keep checking back here for updates or following along for snippets on Insta.

Stay wandering,

-Jeff
