‘Tis the Season!

Greetings, Fellow Creatures!

Casco and I hope this post finds you well, and we hope your December is off and galloping like a herd of reindeer in a hurry.

The big man is on his way, after all.

At the Elsewhere household, excitement is high! The boys (and Casco) anxiously await x-mas morning and are raring to see what’s beneath the tree.

What unfortunately will not be there, but will hopefully be there soon (and not that these books are age-appropriate for them at this time), is the finalized series of the Scarred World Saga.

However, I’m happy to report that I’m making great progress. As of writing this, I am 90k words completed, with somewhere around 20-30k left to go. That means, I’m hopeful to have draft 1 of the 4th book, Scorn of the Scarred, done in January at this rate.

Woohoo!

And while there’s still plenty of editing that needs to happen before I can get it, and books 2 and 3 into your well-deserving and patient paws, it will be a significant milestone that I’ll take a day or two to celebrate before getting back to work.

By celebrating, of course, that means I’ll be spending time with the kiddos, Mrs. Elsewhere, and the mischievous fuzz-ball Casco, who, as I write this, has just gotten his jaws around the Christmas tree skirt for the third time in the last 30 minutes.

He certainly lives up to his name and is really good at retrieving… just not things that we want.

I’ll also plan on spending some time with Arc Raiders, which, as I mentioned in my newsletter, has been an extremely fun game to get into and has gotten me to return to my Xbox whole hog.

Its intensity, coupled with the social experimentation of it where you never know if a fellow raider topside is going to be friendly or not has had me glued to my seat for much longer than any game in recent memory. It’s a nice, different energy than the story-driven RPGs I normally gravitate to.

So yeah, after I write The End on book 4, and before I return to the editing process, I’ll be spending some time out of Speranza seeing what kind of trouble I can get into.

Elsewhere in Elsewhere, Art Quest continues, albeit at a slower pace than I prefer. I’ve finally finished Ahmed Aldoor’s 100-Head Challenge and have moved onto Draw-A-Box Lesson 4, where I’m spending some time drawing bugs, learning their shapes and how 3D forms connect.

It’s been a nice change of study, and though I always want to give it more time, I’m happy with the steady progress I’m making.

All this is to say is that work continues, and after books 2-4 of the Scarred World saga have been released, I’m hopeful I’ll have a much steadier stream of updates to give you all. It’s not all this preamble about my process and whatnot.

Again, if you’ve read the blog before or follow along on the newsletter (which I hope you do!), then you’re probably tired of me saying this, but Casco and I are super grateful for you following along on the journey how we explore Elsewhere and work in the background. We hope to reward your patience very soon.

In the meantime, we hope you emerge from the shadows of Elsewhere to bask in the polychromatic glow of holiday lights and enjoy some time with family (and maybe some Arc Raiders.)

More updates to come, but for now…

Stay sugary,

-Jeff
